Dr. Luoluo Hong

Greetings from Vice President Hong

Welcome to Georgia Tech and to Student Engagement & Well-Being (SEWB). I am truly delighted that you are joining our community of dedicated professionals who are committed to supporting students as they learn, grow, and thrive!

In SEWB at Georgia Tech, our guiding value is clear: students are our top priority. That value comes to life in everything we do, everywhere we are. Whether your role is direct service, operations, communications, or leadership, your work contributes to an ecosystem of care and connection that encourages and empowers students to succeed academically, personally, and professionally. Each interaction you have, no matter how big or small, has the potential to shape a student’s sense of belonging, well-being, and purpose.

Our mission is rooted in supporting the whole student. We strive to create environments and experiences that promote flourishing, resilience, and meaningful engagement. We believe that learning extends beyond the classroom and that every student deserves access to the support, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive in a complex and evolving world. SEWB is uniquely situated to help students acquire a broad range of durable skills that prepare them to lead and work in the global workforce of the future. This work is both deeply meaningful and profoundly impactful, and you are now an essential contributor in our collective efforts.

You are joining a cabinet area that values collaboration, compassion, and continuous improvement. We recognize that the needs of today’s students are dynamic, and we are committed to listening, learning, and adapting in ways that center their experiences and do better for tomorrow's students. Your voice, your perspective, and your expertise matter here. I encourage you to bring your unique strengths and skills to this work and to engage with colleagues across teams as we work together to advance our mission.

As you begin your journey at Georgia Tech, I invite you to take time to build connections, explore our campus community, and reflect on the role you play in shaping the student experience. Find at least one new friend with whom you can eat lunch or take walking breaks; ask a colleague to be a mentor to help you reach your next career goal. The work we do is complex and, at times, challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Together, we have the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students.

Thank you for choosing to be part of SEWB. I am grateful for your commitment to this work and excited for the contributions you will make. We are glad you are here!

Go Jackets!
